UK Fire Brigade History FB group, Terry Hutton:
- In 1930 Witham replaced their steam pump with a new motor one only to find when it arrived it was too long to fit in the existing station, so it was decided to build this station as a temporary measure on the site of a disused waterworks behind Bridge Street, it remained in use until 1966! The wooden pole on the right had the siren on top and the pitched roof building behind was part ot the waterworks and never part of the station |
